What we collect

This site does not run analytics, does not set tracking cookies and does not ask you to create an account. Calculators work entirely in your browser: the numbers you type are never sent to us or to anyone else. The only personal data we can hold is described in the sections below: an optional email address, a one-way hash of an Instagram ID, and anonymous click counts.

Your preferences

Your chosen theme (light or dark) may be remembered in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device and is not sent to us.

Advertising and consent

When advertising is switched on, ads are served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) asks for your choice before personalised ads are used, and you can change that choice later from the consent link in the footer. Ads appear only on website pages, never in Instagram messages or emails.

Until advertising is switched on, this site loads no advertising or third-party tracking scripts.

Short links and email signup

Click counters. The /go short links count visits per link, source label and UTC day. We do not store your IP address, user agent, cookie or any identifier with these counts.

Email sign-ups (optional). If you subscribe, we store your email address, your language, where you signed up and the exact consent wording you agreed to. We use it only to send the education emails you asked for, never sell it, and you can unsubscribe at any time or ask us to delete it using the contact page. The form has an unticked consent box and a hidden anti-spam field that is not stored.

Instagram messages

If you comment a keyword on one of our Instagram posts, we may send you one message with a link, and a single reminder if you have not followed the account. We store only a one-way hash (HMAC) of your Instagram-scoped ID, the post it relates to and the state of the conversation. We never store your username, your comment text or your message text, and we cannot turn the hash back into your ID. Reply STOP to opt out or DELETE to erase it. You can also use the data deletion endpoint: removing our app in your Instagram settings sends Meta's deletion request to our site, and we erase your hash automatically (see the data deletion page). We never place ads in these messages.

Embedded video

Article pages embed videos from YouTube. YouTube may set its own cookies when you play a video. We use the privacy-enhanced embed address where available.

Who processes data for us

Cloudflare hosts the site, its database (D1) and file storage (R2), and processes technical request data such as IP address to deliver pages and protect the service. Cloudflare Email Routing handles the studio mailbox.

Google processes data when you play an embedded YouTube video and, when advertising is on, through AdSense and its consent message. Meta processes Instagram messages under its own privacy policy. GitHub holds the site source and runs our publishing workflows; it does not receive visitor data.

We do not sell personal data.
